Coach Blanks has lived track and field practically all of his life! In high school he earned his place on the state rankings in the 100 and 220, the 440 and mile relay. He attended Texas Southern University as a member of the Flying Tigers track team with such notables as Jim Hines.
Coach B began his coaching career at TSU where he served as an assistant coach from 1970 to 1974. Later he moved to Johnston Middle School as Athletic Director and in 1991 to Westbury where he was given the task of rebuilding the boys' track and field program.
Coach B's hurdlers have established a tradition of excellence both on the state and national level including:
Bayano Kamani, 5th 2004 Olympic Games, Athens, representing Panam; Ranked #2 by the IAAF in 2004; current South American 400h champion; represented Panam at the 2003 World Championships in Paris;1997 Texas State Champion in110 and 300 hurdles, Texas State record holder, 300 hurdles, US and World Leader -High School in the 300 and 400 hurdles- Ranked #1 in the Collegiate 400 hurdles, 3-time Big 12 Champion, 1999 & 2002 NCAA 400 Hurdle Champion, Silver medalist World University Games; 13-time All-American at Baylor University. currently competing professionally with Santa Monica TC and Nike.

Bennie Brazell, 8th at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens; currently at LSU where he has been an NCAA medalists in 400 hurdles, 4x1 and 4x400 relays; State Champion 300 meter hurdles, 2000 & 2001, state record holder, 300 hurdles. US High School Leader 300m hurdles- 2000 & 2001. Also plays football at LSU where he was a member of the National Championship team in 2003.
Joy Kamani

Joy Kamani has coached on the USATF Youth level for the past fifteen years and has assisted in the development of several national junior olympic champions. She is a Level 1 Certified USATF coach. She has been administrator of clinics at the Nike Indoor Nationals and the Nike Outdoor Nationals as well as clinics in the Republic of Panama with her son, Bayano Kamani and husband Francisco Kamani.
Kamani has served as an Asst. Coach, Asst. & Head Manager of USA National Youth Teams in Poland, Hungary and Canada. She is the National Female Talent Recruiter for the Nike Indoor Nationals, the Nike Outdoor Nationals and the Great American Cross Country Festival and a Board Member of the National Scholastic Sports Foundation.
Joy Kamani, Jr.

Joy, Jr. is a graduating senior student-athlete at Southern University in Baton Rouge where her specialty is the 400 meter hurdles. She is a graduate of the Westbury High School track and field program and has been involved as a clinic facilitator since its inception. Joy, Jr. is known for her special touch with younger athletes and her ability to quickly teach individual skills. She is the clinic's prime demonstrator.
